This seems like a nice dose of reality for some reason. I love the details. You feel as if you could hear the straw crunching under your feet.

  1. I was raised on a dairy farm. That sound you hear is not straw crunching under your feet, but quite another substance squishing under your feet.

When I left the farm I swore to myself I would never in my life live with any critter larger than a beagle. I'm up to a dachshund.

  2. We had livestock too ... I myself thought of the odors rather than the squishiness. :-D

Though, I see you are keeping your curmudgeonly side to the fore!

  3. Hey, I like cows - they go so well with tater tots and iced tea!
