Whatever Happened to Describing Something as Mouthwatering?

Or even as tantalizing? Or appealing?

No, it's all something-porn. Oh the unimaginative and vocabulary-poor times in which we live.

Regardless of that mini-rant, do pop though and take a look at these scrump-diddly-umptious book collections at Bookshelf Porn. It is enough to make one dream longingly of a large country house with a really proper library of one's own.

(Thanks to Tante Leonie for this treat!)

  1. Thank you! I feel really smart and imaginative now since earlier today I used the word 'tantalizing' to describe Ben Hatke's new Zita the Spacegirl book which I'm looking forward to reading.

    I'm 100% with you.

The use of "porn" to describe anything and everything is so vulgar, cheap, degrading and dehumanizing.

I'm hoping and praying for the pendulum to start swinging back to more restraint, but I may not see it in my lifetime.

PS -- glad you liked the site. Even though I have pared down more than three quarters of my books over the last 6 month, this was an intriguing site to me.

  4. I won't look/visit/spend my money on anything with "porn" in the title. So sorry I won't be looking at the Bookshelf.

  5. Interesting. You will go to the trouble to inform me of that, while simultaneously using the word itself to comment on a post that decrys the use of the word ... and suggests alternatives. Yes, interesting.
