I've heard of Austenland but not being a fan until just now I hadn't given it a second glance. :-)Julie D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08384291674560438678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6881054.post-43852505758392157342014-09-07T22:11:11.202-05:002014-09-07T22:11:11.202-05:00NORTHANGER ABBEY is so funny! Right now I'm in the middle of the audiobook AUSTENLAND by Shannon Hale--have you heard of it? I didn't love it at first, but now it's cracking me up and I don't want to turn off the car to pause the story!Kate Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03555660993363611776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6881054.post-7975991072524887812014-09-05T12:55:09.788-05:002014-09-05T12:55:09.788-05:00I've seen those Stillwater posts drift by but ...I've seen those Stillwater posts drift by but hadn't stopped to read them since I somehow didn't notice them until the story was well underway. Thank you for the link to the index. I'll have to wait until I'm all the way through Austen but will be interested to read it afterward! :-)Julie D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08384291674560438678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6881054.post-18262763335535686342014-09-05T01:47:51.791-05:002014-09-05T01:47:51.791-05:00Oh, yes! Here's the index for it, so that you can read the segments in correct order:

http://darwincatholic.blogspot.com/2014/08/stillwater-index.htmlCatholic Bibliophagisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10697706672495544901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6881054.post-69988712886561122882014-09-04T21:21:41.535-05:002014-09-04T21:21:41.535-05:00Ha! My brush with Austen in high school-- my teacher thought that Pride and Prejudice was the Best Novel Ever but I was more interested in my current science fiction read-- left me thinking she was dull and ugh formulaic romances. Then I met her again in college with my guide a male professor who no one could accuse of being a sentimentalist or a lightweight, in fact his dissertation was on Shakespeare. And he helped me to see the sharp wit in Sense and Sensibility. Persuasion is my favorite, though. I love Anne.

Have you seen Mrs. Darwin's just-finished modern adaptation of Mansfield Park? It's well worth it if you're on a serious Austen kick.
