I do wish that he was more nuanced in the comments I have read.<br /><br />For one having a soul is not enough since plants and animals and even bacterium have souls. It is a rational soul that is capable of eternal life.<br /><br />Second if he likes to read SF as he does than C.S. Lewis Space Trilogy is an interesting start on the question. Plus what if an alien race's equivalent of Adam and Eve never sinned? In that case Baptism would not be required. God could use us to bring salvation to an alien race via Baptism or intervened in another way with a different sacramental system.
