The Ballet Class (between 1871 and 1874). Edgar Degas (1834-1917).

Of course if it's ballet class we expect Degas, don't we? I'd never seen this charming painting of practice with the mother slumped in a chair reading. Oh how very many ballet classes for my young daughters were spent in the car reading whatever book I slung in at the last minute. It brings back memories, even if my daughters never were dressed so charmingly for practice.
