Worth a Thousand Words: A Self Portrait

Rembrandt, A Self Portrait, 1658
Isn't this splendid? What a contrast between the lived-in face and the gorgeous clothing. Also, a good example of why not to make snap judgments of people based on their face. I'd never peg this guy for a master artist. He looks too tough. Although also, somehow, also kind.

Rembrandt looks quite old, and short and fat too...here! There are much better self portraits! Chears
