Well Said: Theater is Good For People

Going into my quote journal ...
One of the thrilling things about theater, and why I think theater is so valuable: Live theater is an actor’s medium. The director simply creates the conditions for the actors to succeed. All those details – sets, costumes, lights/sound, etc – aside, the director teaches and pushes and pulls, but only during rehearsal. At some point, the director steps away. During the performances the kids are on stage alone, having to trust in one another, and completely free to act. With that freedom comes risk of failure, but that’s why success is so enjoyable, so satisfying, and a valuable experience.

I've been listening almost nonstop in recent days to the The Tobolowsky Files where actor Stephen Tobolowsky muses on acting, life, and Hollywood.

Is that why this resonated with me? Because it sounds like something he'd say?

Or just because it is wise ... we all, in the end, are in the theater of life.
