Well... that did not work out so well for Davy but it sure did for Texas and the US.
I read an interesting article a couple of years back that included some "previously" unknown first person accounts from reliable Mexican army officers that made the case that he was executed after the Alamo fell rather than killed in action. Still... I'm old enough to have the image of Fess Parker death in the "Wonderful World of Disney - Davy Crockett." I did not care for the new version is BillBob Thorton as Crockett. Not sure why... Although, in that new movie version they tucked in the Battle of San Jacinto where 'ole santy-anna got his... :)

I loved the new movie, but never saw the old one, so ... I had nothing to compare it to.
