Where can an average Catholic hear the Visgothic Anitphonal? :)
I have no musical talent or ear. I would like learn more about chant but the stuff I see on line is above my head (ear). I have been (infrequently) praying the Little Office of the BVM. The book I have has plain chant but I can't figure out what those little dots mean. Any suggestions from you or your readers? I'm afraid that none of the local parishes chant (too many guitars and drums... noisesome things...)
So...have you ever sunk your eyes into a line on this artwork and followed it around from beginning to end? Is that what you are supposed to do with something as ornate as this. Because...as I (upon first time ever trying to do this) followed each twist and turn - I found it amazing. You can trace all the way through every interwoven part. Did the artists of old do this for the viewer or as an artistic exercise? What does it mean?
Tom, that hadn't occurred to me but when I did it, wow ... it is rather soothing as well as being intriguing. I don't know the answer to your question, but thank you for the insight!
Newguy ... I don't know because I was so focused on the art. Anyone have an answer on that?
