Burning the Koran. I'm Agin It. And So Is the Pope.

There are so many reasons that is a bad idea. Let's just begin with simple respect for other people. Oh, and freedom of religion. Etc.

Anyway, Whispers in the Loggia has the Vatican's reaction, which more eruditely (is that a word?) goes along those same lines.

  1. Not exactly "And the harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." is it?

  5. To me it seems like crashing a party where hundreds of people are having a good time with each other.

10 of them are violent jerks, and so to show those 10 jerks that you aren't afraid of them, you pee in their punch bowl.

  6. All I'd like is a little consistency. Don't get me wrong, I'm with you, burning the Koran is disrespectful on so many levels; however where's the commentary in the mass media that this is his "constitutional" right?

  7. I've been thinking about that because somewhere I did see someone saying that. And I thought that the right to speech is the right to say something. Not the right to burn up other people's speech.

Yes, that is confused, but ... well, there you go. I mean to say, he would be denying others' their speech.

    Right?

And, now I see that he's called it off.

  8. I see also that Rackspace canceled that church's website. Thus, doing to them, just what that church is threatening to to do the Quran. Interesting.
