St. Thomas More and Barak Obama

I just listened to the first part of EWTN's podcast series about St. Thomas More. Not only does it sound as if it is going to be fascinating on many different levels, but it is especially important as we form our consciences for voting in November.

Listening in the first episode to the account of St. Thomas More's display of statesmanship when facing down Cardinal Woolsey put me in mind of this whole movement that has arisen to straddle both a pro-life stance and voting for Barak Obama. They're foolin' themselves.

What is more distressing is to think that perhaps simply by stating their position with enough force, they are drawing others into their delusion. I would argue my point, but, thankfully, Amy Welborn took on this straw man yesterday. Please do go read her piece if you are leaning toward believing the pro-choice, Obama movement.

Extremely simply put: The ends do not justify the means. It's about babies. Period.

You can find the St. Thomas More series here. I highly recommend it. Scroll to the bottom of the page to their Special Monthly Podcast. This is EWTN's feature selection of classic programs for October. These downloads will be available for only 30 days so go get them now for later listening.
